What a virtual card really is
Here is the simple explanation of what a virtual card is, how money moves, and why people need to stop typing their real card number into every checkout.
A real card number that isn't yours
Each card is generated on demand and sits in front of your money. A merchant only ever sees the number you handed them. Pause it, close it, or change its rules without touching anything else.
ReVault runs on a balance, like a prepaid account. You put money in, your cards spend from it, and your bank never meets the merchant.
You
Top up by Interac e-Transfer or a linked bank account. At checkout, pay with a virtual card number instead of your real one.
ReVault
Checks the card's rules when the charge comes in. If it fits, we pay the merchant from your balance. If not, it declines.
Merchant
Gets paid like any other card payment. The only thing it ever holds is the virtual number.
If a store you paid gets breached, the leaked number is a dead end. Close it, make a new one, and your bank never knew it happened.
Which card should I use?
Pick the card for the payment.
Different payments need different rules. Burn a number after one charge, keep one at a single merchant, hold a category to a cap, or take a card anywhere with your limits still on it.
Pause it instantly. Close it for good.
Suspicious charge? Cancelled service? Pause the card or close it. The number stops working as soon as you do.

Questions people ask
Is it a real card I can actually pay with?
It is a normal card number with a CVV and an expiry date, so at launch it will work anywhere online that takes a card.
Does it cost anything?
Final pricing for the live card program is not yet confirmed. The pricing page shows the current structure without presenting unapproved figures as final. Fees, limits, rewards, and eligibility terms will be published before public card issuance begins.
How does ReVault make money?
The product is built, but the live card-program economics still depend on the banking and issuing partnership. Final interchange arrangements, paid tiers, rewards, and fees will be published only after those commercial terms are confirmed.
How fast will I be able to get one?
Seconds. You will create a card in the app, name it, and use it right away.
Is it actually safer than my normal card?
A leaked virtual number cannot reach your bank account and can be closed on its own. Your real card details never leave the vault.
Can I use it everywhere?
Anywhere online that accepts a card, once we open. In-store taps and digital wallets come later, with the full product.
Will this be available in Canada?
The ReVault product is built, but public card issuance depends on completing the required banking partnership. A launch date has not been announced. The waitlist at revault.ca is open and free to join for access and availability updates.
